Who we are

TechLegion Switzerland is a non-profit association (Verein under Swiss law) dedicated to democratising access to technology education. We run workshops, hackathons, mentoring and community events for everyone โ€” regardless of background โ€” to thrive in the 21st century.

Who this applies to

This Code applies to every member, ambassador, board director, team member and contributor โ€” at all TechLegion events (online, hybrid, in person), on all TechLegion platforms (Slack, WhatsApp, GitHub, social media, email), and any external setting where you represent TechLegion. No exceptions.

Respect & dignity

Every person is treated with respect. We are diverse โ€” united by curiosity, not by background.

Expected

  • Use welcoming, inclusive, professional language
  • Assume good intent; address misunderstandings with generosity
  • Listen actively; make space for less-heard voices

Not acceptable

  • Harassment, intimidation, bullying or threats

  • Unwelcome contact after a request to stop
  • Public shaming, pile-ons or call-outs to humiliate
โšก Quick rule: if you would be uncomfortable seeing your action in a screenshot sent to the Board, reconsider the action.

Roles & responsibilities

Everyone follows this Code. Some roles carry extra responsibilities.

Members

Acknowledge the Code annually. Participate constructively. Vote when eligible. Uphold TechLegion's reputation.

Ambassadors

Represent TechLegion positively. Disclose your role in public communications. Get Board approval before committing TechLegion to partnerships.

Board directors

Act in the association's best interests. Disclose conflicts; recuse when relevant. Follow Swiss association law (ZGB Art. 60โ€“79). No paid Board service beyond approved expense reimbursement.

Team members

Fulfil your role professionally. Keep operational, financial and personal data confidential. Don't use TechLegion resources for personal purposes.

Conflicts of interest

A conflict arises when a personal, professional or financial interest could influence a decision made on behalf of TechLegion. When that happens: declare it immediately, do not participate in the discussion or vote, and have the recusal documented in minutes.

Swiss standard: when in doubt, disclose. Swiss law and TechLegion's non-profit status require that the association's resources and decisions serve the community โ€” not private interests.

Resources, data & IP

TechLegion's funds, equipment, platforms, brand, contact lists and member data exist to serve our educational mission. Do not use them for personal businesses, unrelated projects or commercial offers. Personal data is processed under Swiss revDSG/nDSG and GDPR where applicable โ€” collect only what's needed, store only on authorised systems, never share without explicit consent, report any potential breach to the Board immediately.

Respect intellectual property โ€” open-source licences, attributions, and the TechLegion name/logo (no unauthorised use).

Speaking on behalf of TechLegion

Only the Board Chair, designated directors, the Executive Director (if applicable) and Ambassadors within their brief are authorised to speak for TechLegion. Members and team members may share TechLegion content and describe their personal involvement, but must make clear they are not speaking for the organisation. Media and press enquiries go to the Board Chair or designated communications lead.

Financial integrity

Funds are used exclusively to advance the educational mission. All expenditures are documented, approved against the budget and recorded transparently. No one personally benefits from TechLegion funds beyond approved, documented reimbursements or contracted compensation. Sponsorship agreements are Board-approved and must never compromise editorial independence.

Reporting & enforcement

Concerns are taken seriously, addressed promptly and fairly. Retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith is itself a serious breach.
